Exercise Physiology at MAEC

Exercise Physiology Services at our centre are provided in our on-site fitness suite by our partner, Pro-Active –a nationwide EP group that offer an elite level of service to their patients!

When you consult with one of the Accredited Exercise Physiologists (AEP) at our centre they will assess various aspects of your health and fitness to tailor a treatment plan and exercise regimen specifically for you. AEP’s have a deep understanding of human physiology, and the body’s response to exercise. They use evidence-based practices to create exercise plans that are safe, effective, and tailored to your individual needs. They do so by considering your medical history, current fitness level, any physical limitations, and your desired outcomes. They can create a plan that maximizes benefits while minimizing risks and provide ongoing support and motivation to overcome barriers, and foster sustainable physical activity habits.

Clinical Group Exercise Classes

In addition to 1:1 consultations, we run evidence-based exercise programs at our private exercise studio. These include general health and fitness classes and ones tailored to specific chronic conditions including:

Type 2 Diabetes: Our Type 2 Diabetes program offers small group exercise classes tailored for individuals managing diabetes. Patients with Type 2 Diabetes referred by their GP can access bulk billed group exercise classes through a care plan, which covers an initial assessment and up to 8 sessions annually.

Cardiac Rehabilitation: Led by our experienced Exercise Physiologist, these programs cater to post-cardiac surgery patients and those managing chronic cardiovascular conditions.

Bone Health: This program is tailored to improve bone mineral density, reduce the risk of falls, and improve daily mobility for individuals with osteoporosis or osteopenia.
